Description

Tyto Athene is hiring a Full Stack Developer (Python/Django + React) to join our development team. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across the stack, from backend APIs to dynamic, responsive frontend applications. Experience with FedRAMP compliance or other regulated environments is highly preferred, as you will help build secure, scalable, and compliant applications for government or enterprise use cases.


You will collaborate closely with our product, design, and DevOps teams to deliver high-quality features, maintain performance, and ensure security best practices in cloud-based deployments.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python and Django.
  • Build modern, responsive user interfaces with React and React Query.
  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs for integration with frontend and third-party services.
  • Work with PostgreSQL for database design, optimization, and data modeling.
  • Deploy and manage services in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, Azure, ensuring scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Implement security best practices and support FedRAMP compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, estimate timelines, and deliver features.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
  • Monitor application performance and troubleshoot production issues.

Qualifications

Required:

  • US Citizenship is required due to work with government-facing clients and associated regulatory requirements.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in backend development with Python and Django.
  • 2+ years of frontend experience with React and state management tools (React Query preferred).
  • Strong understanding of REST API design and integration.
  • Proficiency in PostgreSQL (queries, schema design, indexing, performance tuning).
  • Hands-on experience deploying applications in AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of software security principles and compliance standards.
  • Experience with Git-based workflows (GitHub, GitLab, etc.).
  • Must demonstrate AI automation experience with technologies like Copilot, Claude or Gemini.

Preferred:

  • Experience in FedRAMP, FISMA, or other regulated compliance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with performance monitoring tools (New Relic, Datadog, AWS CloudWatch).
  • Prior work in government, defense, or enterprise SaaS environments.

Location: Remote (must be willing to work east coast hours)
