Description

Tyto Athene is searching for a Senior Systems and Applications Lead to support U.S. Southern Command on the SCITES II Contract in Doral, Florida.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manages, integrates, and optimizes enterprise systems and applications to support USSOUTHCOM’s mission-critical IT operations
  • Develops and implements system architectures, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments 
  • Oversees the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise applications, databases, and middleware solutions to support operational requirements
  • Monitors system performance, conducts diagnostics, and resolves complex issues to enhance reliability and efficiency
  • Implements security controls, patch management, and compliance frameworks to align with DoD policies and risk management standards
  • Executes lifecycle management of enterprise systems and applications, aligning operations with cybersecurity, risk mitigation, and continuity of operations (COOP) strategies
  • Conducts audits, compliance assessments, and performance optimizations to maintain enterprise-wide functionality and security 
  • Provides Tier 3 and Tier 4 technical leadership, mentoring administrators and collaborating with cross-functional IT teams to enhance system resilience 
  • Develops automation frameworks, implements logging and monitoring solutions, and ensures seamless integration of enterprise applications with mission-critical operations
  • Supports strategic IT initiatives by delivering secure, scalable, and high-performance system and application solutions across global operational environments     

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in systems administration, systems engineering, or enterprise application support with at least two of those years in a supervisor role
  • Strong experience managing enterprise platforms, infrastructure, and core business applications 
  • Proficiency with virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere/ESXi
  • Expertise in enterprise patching, configuration management, and deployment strategies 
  • Knowledge of automation and orchestration (e.g., PowerShell, Ansible) and system integration workflows 
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices for incident, change, and problem management  
  • Experience supporting or maintaining compliance frameworks (e.g., RMF, NIST, STIGs)
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience briefing senior technical and government leadership   

Desired:

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience supporting DoD or federal government environments, including Joint Command or TSOC operations 
  • Experience with containerization platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms and hybrid infrastructure (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS GovCloud) 
  • Understanding of government procurement and DoD program lifecycle
  • ITIL v4 Foundations or higher
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator or higher
  • VMware Certified Professional 

Clearance:

  • TS/SCI Secret clearance required

Certification:

  • DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
  • CompTIA Security+ CE

Location:

  • Doral, Florida

Travel:

  • Travel may be required based on operational requirements
